A big week-end started last Friday with GDSC Championships semi-finals H/Cap Singles, with R Marchant d G Harrison 31/24 to see who met R Power in Sunday afternoons final. Prior to that (on Saturday afternoon), the semi-finals Mixed Pairs were played, with A Knox/B Murry d A Williams/B Williams 23/9. The second semi final saw O McDonogh/K O’Meara d D Lawson/G Harrison 19/10. Sunday afternoon’s finals finished our 2015 Championships in the rain and wind with two great games of finals standard play. Rob Power & Ray Marchant gave it to each other all afternoon with Rob Power d Ray Marchant 31/24 also the GDSC Mixed Pairs saw a hard fort game with 17yr old Olivia McDonogh the standout, playing some of the best bowls seen for a long time. Her partner Ken O’Meara not far behind. They defeated the very experienced Allan Knox/Bev Murray 23/9. Well done to all players who played very good bowls in the conditions, also all the members that turned out to support our great players. The GDSC TNT (Tuesday Night Twilight) Bowls (Round 7) saw BYO team the winners from the team of JKR. Lucky loser went to The Nev’s 2 team. The Abbey Motel play of the night on Green 1 went J O’Brien and the Green 2 Henwoods Hot Bread play of the night was not won. Leaders after Round 7, Scrubbers, jumped to 28pts followed by Smaccas/3b’s on 26 with BYO on 24. Wednesday winners were D Solomon/A Madden from A Gough/T Lickiss. Lucky losers were G Maxted/B Williams. The XXXX/Tooheys play of the day went to T Lickiss 13-08. Friday Pairs saw the winners Snow McClymont/M Walsh, with runners up K McWaters/K Landrigan. Lucky loser to G & R Power with the XXXX/Tooheys play of the day (there were 11 touchers) but it was C Bennett 13-21, and again $400 jackpot not won. Saturday had A Stocks/M Shorten/R Douglas winners and lucky losers to A & B Williams/D Lawson/G Harrison. No one for the XXXX/Tooheys play of the day. List for names for those who wish to play in the 2016 Pennant season ASAP so we can work out number of teams to nominate. New club shirts in so pick them up and or pay.
