The Grafton Chamber of Commerce welcomed more than 70 guests to their 2023 Spring Gala Business Awards at the Bascule Function Centre on September 1.

A celebration of the resilience, innovation, inclusivity, community awareness and contributions, and social engagement, proudly demonstrated by local businesses within the past 12 months, the event also highlighted the incredible feats and aspirations of the dedicated owners, managers, and team members, who continually strive to achieve their best to ensure their respective brands and organisations maintain their high standing within the community.

Local businesses and events including Honey Bee Hives, the Grafton Jacaranda Festival, Sweet Temptations, and Farmer Lou’s, were nominated by a panel of independent judges across eight categories, each one recognising a significant achievement.

A popular winner on the night was local salon DiMattia and Co, which took home four awards from five nominations.

As she graciously addressed the crowd, proud owner and founder Kerrie DiMattia revealed she felt really appreciative to have her business recognised at the event and extended her congratulations to her fellow business owners and nominees.

“I think we should all be really proud that we’re here,” she said.

“This is such an honour.

“To be in the room amongst so many really awesome business owners, and to be celebrating our businesses, it really is amazing.”

Representatives of the Brewhouse Group were thrilled to win the Visionary Award a week after announcing their development application (DA) for an artisan food and drink premises had been approved by Clarence Valley councillors, while Jacaranda Festival Manager Mark Blackadder thanked the community and sponsors for their ongoing support of the annual event after receiving the Pay It Forward Award.

Treasurer of the Grafton Chamber of Commerce Glenn Thompson congratulated all nominees at the conclusion of the event, adding the evening had been a great success.
