Dragon boaters win bronze at Australian Masters in Adelaide

Paddlers from Grafton and Clarence Coast Dragon Boat Clubs combined with paddlers from Coffs Harbour, Ballina and Camden Clubs to compete as team FNC at the Australian Masters in Adelaide recently.

The weather was extremely cold and windy conditions made it challenging at the start line. We competed in both 10’s and 20’s races in Senior A, B and C in women’s, mixed and open categories.

It was women’s senior B 10’s that won bronze out of 25 teams. We just missed out on bronze in the Senior B women’s 20’s.

A big thank you to Tracey Starr for getting us there – coaching and managing.

It wasn’t all hard work though with members extending their stay and doing day trips to the Barossa, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, the city and botanical gardens.

Please note, due to the windy conditions in the afternoon the Thursday training session has been moved to the morning also – from the Grafton Rowing Club shed 5.45am.

Our regatta is scheduled for March 9-10 in 2024.

Get fit while you sit – We welcome you to come and try dragon boating –
