Councils working together on accessibility

Seven North Coast councils have released a community survey on accessibility for people with disabilities. The survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/accessnr2016 is open for anyone from people with a disability, carers, families, disability sector organisations and interested residents. The survey’s feedback will help councils prepare for improving accessibility in line with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014. Accessibility will focus on the following areas: • positive community attitudes and behaviours; • liveable communities; • supporting access to meaningful employment • accessible systems and processes. The councils involved are Ballina, Byron, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Kyogle, Lismore and Richmond Valley. The survey will be open until Friday, May 27, and is available at www.clarence.nsw.gov.au. Anyone interested in participating in further consultations should contact council on 6642 0952 or heather.lamberton@clarence.nsw.gov.au with any questions or feedback.
