Chatsworth Island CWA ‘Cent Auction’

Chatsworth Island CWA branch has finalised details for the very popular ‘Cent Auction’, this year to be held on Wednesday, September 6.

Because of drought, fires and Covid, this event has not been able to take place for several years, but we are delighted to be able to have our Cent Auction up and running.

Although in a slightly different format, it will be just as enjoyable as in previous years, with great prizes to be won and beautiful goods for sale on the trading table. The auction this year will be a morning tea event, with the doors open at 8.45am for a 9.15am start, morning tea is at 10.30am. Entry fee $5; so, gather your friends and book a table for a great morning out.

For further details call Anna on 0408 344 496 or Marion on 6646 4456. All proceeds from the event go to local and CWA charities.

CWA Bathurst Conference

Marion attended the 2023 Conference held in Bathurst from May 8 to 11. The theme for the Conference was Courage, Kindness and Strength with the emphasis on Kindness.

One of the guest speakers was DCI Cameron Whiteside, State Rural Crime Coordinator. His father was headmaster at Iluka Primary School, and Cameron went to school there and continued his education at Maclean High School.

Yamba Branch member Lorraine Corbett won the competition for the gluten free whole orange cake, Kay Crockett from Sawtell won third place for the recycled item and Fay Owner had first and three seconds in the cultural art comp.

The Conference is to be held in Coffs Harbour next year and Marion said the weather will hopefully be quite different, because “it was freezing in Bathurst”.
