  The 13th annual State of Origin weekend was held at Iluka Golf Course in beautiful weather conditions and excellent fields on both days enjoyed heaps of friendship and great golf. The same sponsors have supported this event with a special passion and love for our club and we thank Don & Jan McCusker, Rick & Lorraine Hoffie, Garry & Tricia Freeman and Greg & Sherrylea Lawrence. The results for Saturday’s Individual Medley Stableford are as follows: Ladies Best Stableford – Sally Christoe 38pts, runner up Merrilyn Whitton 35pts, 2nd runner up Pam Ravet 34pts, 3rd runner up Brenda Kay 32pts on c/b, 4th runner up Sandi Mayoh 32pts. Men’s Best Stableford – Les Reese 43pts on c/b, runner up Brian Kay 43pts, 2nd runner up Ray Scarr 42pts on c/b, 3rd runner up Noel Chambers 42pts on c/b. Non Handicap division Mens Winner Jamie Yates 39pts. NTP’s 1/10 Joe Stratford; Sandi Mayoh 6/15 Les Reese; Merrilyn Whitton 8/17 Gary Brown; Sandi Mayoh. Ball run down to 35. The Mens Shield for highest Stableford score went to Les Reese 43pts. Ladies Shield went to Sally Christoe 38pts. The Squashed Toad award for lowest Qld score went to Tricia Freeman 30pts, the Proud Cocky award for the lowest NSW Stableford score went to Phillip Blackwell 25pts. The coveted State of Origin trophy finished extremely close with Qld having 632pts with an average of 35.111 and NSW 639pts with an average of 35.5 therefore giving NSW the Trophy. Sunday continued with the State of Origin Medley 4 person Ambrose which is always heaps of fun, especially when you have beautiful blue skies and just enough wind to make it comfy. The results were as follows: Overall winners- Peter Whitton, Eric Bouveng, Simon Farrell, Graeme Lynn 52.125pts; runners up – Bill Bolman, Graeme Aldred, Jamie Yates, Donald Williams 54.375pts; 2nd runners up – Phil Moye, Les Reese, Col Kempshall, Brian Twaddell 56pts; 3rd runners up – Trevor Bennett, Paul Hochkins, Paul Ramon, Barry Arnold 56.2pts. NTP’s: 1/10 Graeme Lynn Team, 6/15 Mike Blewitt Team, 8/17 Graham Howard Team. A very special thank you again to our sponsors, excellent club staff, all the volunteers that made our weekend very special and our hard working team that make the course a joy to play on. The weekend was a wonderful time for all visitors and members. Next Saturday is Mens Single Stroke monthly medal sponsored by Anchorage Holiday Park and Col Kempshall, Sunday is the Tri Club Challenge Medley Single Stableford between Woodburn, Coraki and Iluka with Iluka being the host club 10am shotgun start and lunch served afterwards.
