$50,000 in play for Clarence and Richmond Valley sport & recreation clubs

Local sport and recreation clubs are encouraged to apply for a share of $50,000 available across the Clarence and Richmond valleys under the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grants Program with applications now open, Clarence Nationals MP Richie Williamson has announced.

Mr Williamson said the grants program is all about helping grassroots sporting clubs increase participation, host events, improve access and enhance their sport and recreation facilities.

“Grassroots community sport plays a critical role in keeping people healthy, active and socially connected,” Mr Williamson said.

“Recent natural disasters and the pandemic highlighted how vital sport is to our collective health, wellbeing and sense of identity.

“The former NSW Liberal and Nationals Government invested heavily in upgrading local sport and recreation facilities.  It’s so important we continue to do so as our sporting clubs are the life-blood of our communities and key to ensuring people of all ages and abilities live a healthy and happy lifestyle.

“You’ve gotta be in it to win it, so head on over to sports.nsw.gov.au and get your application in.”

Grant requests must be a minimum of $2,000 and a maximum of $20,000 and can be used towards the purchase of new equipment and improved facilities and programs that enable people of all ages and abilities to participate in sport and active recreation.

Applications close 1pm, 27 November 2023.
