Bulky Waste Collection starts May 3

The 2021 Bulky Waste collection is scheduled to start on Monday May 3. As in previous years, Council encourages eligible residents to follow the Bulky Waste collection guidelines in order to keep our community safe and ensure the job of collecting the waste is straightforward.

It is worth remembering that most of the waste collected in the Bulky Waste pick up is sent to landfill, so if there is an opportunity for you to divert any of your bulky waste from landfill and give it a second life, you are encouraged to do so. You may be pleased to know, however, that items including mattresses and scrap steel are recovered and recycled.

The most important thing to remember is that this is a bulky waste pick up, for large items too big for your red bin. Please do not leave out smaller items that will fit in your red bin. The service is for residents who receive a weekly waste service and is not for commercial users or for businesses. Please keep it safe for our contractors and do not leave hazardous waste (gas bottles, paint, car batteries, fire extinguishers, oil, ewaste) out for collecting. These items may be dropped off at our Waste Transfer Stations for free.

Finally, please ensure that your pile is no larger than 2 cubic metres and it is out on the Sunday of your collection week.

For more information, view the schedule on council’s website or waste app, or here in the CV Independent.
