Yamba Day VIEW celebrated their 22nd Birthday on October 19 with guests from Maclean and Grafton VIEW Clubs plus some family members and Vicki and Margaret from Moove & Groove. What a lovely day. It all began with drinks and nibblies followed by a presentation to our member of 46 years Audrey Robinson by NC Laura O’Brien. Audrey joined VIEW in Sydney in 1969 and transferred to Maclean View before joining both Yamba Evening and Yamba Day VIEW Clubs. Audrey was instrumental in the formation of Yamba Day and has held the position of Delegate and President each for several years with lots of hard work fundraising. She ran trading tables, made Christmas cakes, organised packing of garments (old and new), volunteer knitting co-ordinator, clothing drives for bushfire victims, visited hospitals and sick in their homes. She has been Hostess for our International Women’s Day each year and took our Learning for Life students to her heart, sending them Birthday, Easter and Christmas cards and vouchers each year. Our first student was Kayla followed now by Caleb, Shaya and Jai and she treats them as family. Government House hosted VIEW parties which she attended and lots of Conventions and Conferences plus Church Services and interclub functions. If a lady deserved this recognition it is our Audrey. Congratulations from us all! Audrey cut the beautiful birthday cake with President Lyn and NC Laura. The entertainment commenced with a hat parade both classy and not so classy followed by the Executive who performed a comical skit of a radio broadcast and a serial story. Vicki and Margaret then took over with a strenuous workout of dance and exercises and all those who could, joined in. What fun this was! Vicki runs classes for the young and not so young in Maclean. Several members are to attend Grafton VIEW Club’s 48th Birthday November 6 commencing 10.30 and a bus trip to Goodwood Island Cane Museum Monday, November 23 leaving Bowling Club 9.30am for morning tea and then back to lunch at the Harwood Hilton. Cost of bus and entry into museum is $5 per head. Please fill the bus! Due to unforeseen circumstances, our Christmas party will now be held at our next luncheon November 16th with a guest speaker, our local Mrs Australia entrant who did very well in the Mrs Universe Pageant recently. Nomination day will also be held at this luncheon. New members and guests are always welcome. Bookings/apologies phone Pat 6646 3060. Joy Lauder
