  Yamba Yabbies held their meeting on October 19 with 12 members and 2 visitors, DTM Justyn Phillips, District 90 P.R. Manager from Port Macquarie and Hannah, Ilma’s friend. ‘Passion’ was the theme chosen by Toastmaster Belinda S and there was plenty of ‘passion’ during the meeting. All explained their roles with Timer Joy, Meeting Listener Brendon, General Evaluator Justyn and Grammarian Jan C with word of the night ‘Emotive’ used often. In the speech segment Annie gave a wonderful speech titled ‘Freedom From Fear’ from Interpretive Reading No.4 ‘The Oratorical Speech’ and Justyn gave two speeches, Communicating on Video No.1 ‘Straight Talk’ and Public Relations Question and Answer session “What’s In It For You’. The evaluations were excellent from Caz, Jan and Maureen. Following the break, our poet Noel, gave a wonderful, passionate rendition of ‘Broken Dreams’. Noel not only wrote it, but acted it out so well. Andrew gave his first ‘Soapbox’ speaking of Melbourne where he lived, followed by Ilma who spoke on CVC and all public waste going to landfill followed by Noel who spoke on the graffiti on the containers on Yamba Road. Lauren conducted short Table Topics segment which included ‘passion’ in the questions. The speakers were: Hannah, Brendon, Caz, Belinda S. and the Evaluators were Belinda B and Jan C. On Saturday October 17, District 90’s Conference was hosted by Yamba Yabbies at the Bowling Club and 50 delegates attended. Yamba Yabbies celebrated their 8th birthday with a wonderful cake. It was magnificent with the Club’s logo embellished on the top. Yamba Yabbies had 6 delegates representing their Club, Annie, Belinda B, Belinda S, Jan C, Lauren and Joy.
