2022 Clarence Valley High Schools Touch Football Shield

On Tuesday evening, October 19, 200 Clarence Valley students dodged the inclimate weather forecast and participated in the newly named Clarence Valley High Schools Touch Football Shield (formally Daily Examiner Touch Competition).

This annual event has had a 3-year hiatus due to weather and COVID restrictions, so it was great to be back playing the coveted position of Clarence Valley winners and with it, bragging rights for the next 12 months.

The students competed in 4 divisions – Junior (years 7&8) and Senior (years 9,10 &11) in both boys and girls.

Four schools contested three divisions with five schools contesting the Senior boy’s division. The standard was high across all divisions and games, and it was great to see the highly competitive skills alongside some fantastic sportsmanship.

Results for the night were evenly split, demonstrating the wide sector of talent across the entire local area.

For everyone else, an awesome effort for 2022. I look forward to seeing all teams back to challenge the shields next year.

Thank you to all teaching and coaching staff from all the schools and to the parents, students and ex-students who came out to support our local teams.

A big shout out to Yamba Touch Football Association for organising fields, referees and canteen and also being a huge part of revamping our long-standing event by providing sponsorship and a new set of shields with our newly branded “Clarence Valley High Schools Touch Football Shield” for future competitions.
