Barbara Linley, Mae Carroll, Summah Chellew, Myra James, and the Braunstone Ladies Fundraising Group have been recognised and honoured for their outstanding community contributions at the 2022 Clarence Valley Australia Day Awards.

An annual celebration that recognises the most extraordinary acts of bravery, charity, generosity, dedication and humanity, the ceremony took place at the Yamba Golf and Country Club on January 26 in front of a small crowd of attendees.

Clarence Valley Council Mayor Ian Tiley said there were strong fields of individuals and community groups nominated this year, each one of them embodying the spirit of service and compassion.

Council also acknowledged January 26 as a date which means and represents so much to so many people.

The event also included a citizenship ceremony with several people from across the world officially welcomed as Australia’s newest citizens.
