Season start for Yamba lady golfers

Humid conditions persisted for the duration of last Wednesday’s penultimate Pro Shop’s Ladies’ Summer competition round and, with 51 players involved, it was great to welcome along new members Tracey Cousemacker and Barbara Roberts.

In Div 1, Tina-Louise Downes was the winner with 36pts with Jeanne Jensen following closely (35pts). Gillian Holst won Div 2 (37pts) and Gail Scobie was r/up (36pts). Joan Berry was the best performer in Div 3 (37pts) and Jacky Penfold (31pts c/b) was r/up.

The day’s Ball Rundown went to 30pts c/b and included: Tracey Cousemacker, Lyn Rowland, Janette Blair, Jenny Moody, Kathy Parker, Leigh Robertson, Jane Bonner, Sue Skelton, Tiffany Lee, Denise Ginn, Kylie Lowe, Margaret Fishburn and Ann Groom.

NTP winners: 3rd – Sandra Wallace, 12th – Glen Czarnota and 17th (2nd shot) – Kylie Lowe.

There were 41 players involved in the last round of the Pro Shop’s Summer competition on Friday. It was great to welcome back our ladies Captain, Penny Cope, who we have not seen for many weeks. Kathy Parker won Div 1 (38pts) and Margaret Solomon (35pts) was r/up. Gwynne Thomas was the Div 2 winner (35pts) just ahead of Penny Cope (34pts).

The day’s ball rundown went to 32pts and included: Jennifer Fagan, Gail Gore-Brown, Janelle Carpenter, Janine Zietsch, Joan Berry, Fay Gimenez, Gillian Holst, Fiona Smart, Lyn Saggers and Helen Collins. NTP winners: 3rd – Jennifer Fagan, 12th – Kathy Parker and 17th (2nd shot) – Jenny Moody.

There has been fantastic support from our ladies during the competition with solid numbers of locals and visitors participating. Once again, many thanks to Jamie Corkill for his generous sponsorship of the competition during the summer break.

Conditions were perfect for golf last Saturday morning for the nine ladies who played the single Stableford competition. Kathy Parker was still on fire, backing up last Friday’s win with another. Kathy won with 35pts and r/up was Jane Bonner with 32pts, on a countback from Jennifer Fagan. Kathy also won the NTP prize.

This week marks the beginning of the ladies 2022 golfing season with over 70 ladies registered to play in Wednesday’s Opening Day 11-hole Par 3 event. Friday will be a single Stableford.

Ladies are reminded to register for all Wednesday games via the sheet located in the golfers’ lounge as they are done by draw only. Friday entries should be made using the online booking system.
