2016 Yamba Handicap Match-play Champion is Lyn Rowland

Congratulations to President, Lyn Rowland, who emerged as Yamba’s 2016 Handicap Match-play Champion on Wednesday last, after taking opponent Gwen Hall to the 18th hole. Both ladies fought well for the title, which has been running over the last few weeks. Well done, girls. A single Stableford was also played by 54 contestants on Wednesday with the winning prize in A Grade going to Kathy Parker with 35 points from Lynne Donsworth 33. B Grade winner was Jane Bonner, who is fine form lately, with 33c/b from Meg Kulmar. NTPs went to Lynn White – Yamba Medical Centre 3rd, Irene Williams – Yamba Florist 3/2, Lynne Donsworth – Yamba Pro Shop 9/2, Lina Holden – Yamba Fair Butchery 10, Kathy Parker – The Shoe Boutique 12, Libby Pride (visitor) Clovelly Fashions 17/2 and Judy Palich –The Block 17/2. Balls went to 30 c/b. The 9 holes Stableford which saw 11 ladies competing on the front 9 was won by Judy Turnbull, and the pin on the 9th was won by Erla McGregor. Winning the draw of the cards were Pauline McKinnon – Civic Video, Dot Latham – Priceline Pharmacy, Robyn Wiblen – The Friendly Grocer, Moira Morrow – Yamba Florist and Carolyn Chester – Yamba Physio. The raffle, which raised $90, was won by Captain, Judy Palich. 43 players played in a Single Par 4/6 event on Friday. Conditions were very heavy on the course, but this did not stop Jennifer Fagan having a magic game, playing to a handicap of 4, to win A Grade with +6. Robyn Wiblen was runner-up in this grade with -1. Three guesses for the winner of B Grade. Right! Christine Harris with +1. Every day should be Friday for Chris. Stranger to the course of late, Pam Atherton, was runner-up with a square.
