Maclean Men’s Golf

Wednesdays 9 hole skins event saw a convincing win for Gary Klingsberg with 5 skins including two 4 pointers. The runner-up was the consistent Mark Hemmy with 3 skins. Last Thursdays Medley Single Stableford saw Stewart McDonald on 40 points take out Noel Butcher on a countback. NTPs: Mark Hemmy on the 2nd, Douglas Hudson the 7th, Kim Wiblen the 11th and Terry Adcock the 17th. Club balls ran down to 36 points. Visitors came from Yamba, Headland and Warwick Golf Clubs. Bruce Wiseman has taken to wearing a high visibility vest after taking a bruising hit last Saturday from a wayward shot. Don’t get in front of Bob Richards either as he did a 180° slide in his buggy. He reckons the turbo clicked in! Saturdays event was the Keno Qualifier 2BBB Vs Par sponsored by Phil and Fran McGuire. Robert Fuller and Sally Weeks carved the field up to return an incredible winning score of plus 11. The runners up Kim Moore and Phil McGuire also put in a top round to come in with plus 9. Both of these teams will represent the Club at the District final at Ocean Shores in July. Other good scores came from 3rd place Kate and Mark Hemmy with plus 8 and 4th place Cath and Richard Parker on plus 7. Club balls went down to plus 5 on a countback. In conjunction with this event a Single Stableford was played with the win going to Brian Iveli with a great score of 41 points. The runner-up was Paul Bamback with 39 points on a countback from Craig Slater and Daniel Kelly. NTPs: Gary Cribb on the 2nd, Gregory Dickinson the 7th and Rod Smith the 17th. Pro balls ran down to 35 points on a countback. Visitors came from Yamba, Grafton, Mooroopna and Muirfield Golf Clubs. It was great to see our captain Geoff Grayson enjoying a game although he was playing with an injury. A big thank you must go to the ladies who helped make last Sundays first mixed event such a success, especially Judy Parkes and Di Moore in the Pro Shop and our caterers Gai Greenwood and Wendy King. After the game the BBQ and pavlovas were a big hit. Next Saturdays game is a Medley Stableford and with the course in excellent condition it is well worth coming out and taking the challenge.
