Women’s weekend medal winners
Wednesday’s Allure Derma Cosmetic Skin Clinic sponsored 3rd Monthly Medal fielded 57 starters. Robyn Wilkes came in as the overall winner with a fantastic 69 nett and received the indulgent prize courtesy of Tania Clark.
The winner of Div 1 and the medal was Marianne Mannell on 71 with Heather Purtill 2nd placed ahead of Sharyn O’Grady with 75 on a c/b. Winner of Div 2 was Cathy Jones on 71, Janet Croft was 2nd on 72 and Beryl Wilks was 3rd on 74. Robyn Wilkes was the medal winner in Div 2.
Div 3 winner and the recipient of the medal was Trish Clarke on a c/b from Jan Hamilton on 73. Desiree Whitton was 3rd placed on 76. Gross winners were Sharyn O’Grady (86), Cathy Jones (94 c/b) and Jan Hamilton (102). The day’s O.B.E. winner was Beryl Wilks, who played some lovely steady golf during her round, but felt the bite of the putter with many rued putts.
The 5am thunderstorm which resulted in a welcome 14 millimetres of precipitation on Saturday morning, did not deter the 10 keen players from entering the Stroke competition, which incorporated the 3rd Monthly Medal, 2nd Captain’s Trophy and the Walter and Eliza Hall event.
The champion player for the morning was Kate Thomson with a very tidy 76 nett from Janette Blair on 78. A delighted Kate also received the medal for April and was also the putting winner with 33 putts.
Last Friday’s Stableford event attracted a good field of 31 starters playing in steamy conditions. Heather Purtill returned a lovely 35pts to take the win in Div 1. Shirley Avery played in her “correct” division on Friday to come in as r/up on 34pts followed by Jan Patterson in 3rd place on 31.
During the past few years, Lyn Hatton has been a regular competitor in the Monday 9-hole medley competitions. However, she joined the Friday ladies 18-hole event last week and made her presence felt by winning div 2 with a fine 40 points.
Julie Bennett came in 2nd placed in Div 2 on Friday with 35 pts. Colleen Smyth was 3rd place 34pts.
Next Sunday, April 17, will be the Open Medley 2BBB stableford event sponsored by Reg and Kay McLennan in support of Muscular Dystrophy. As this is a medley day, all golfing ladies are encouraged to form a team, either both ladies or mixed, and come out and play on this fun day and support this wonderful cause.
The day will also see the opening of our new 10th hole, which is scheduled to take place prior to the shot gun start at 11am. As our new hole comes into play, both the men’s and ladies match committees have re-indexed our course’s 18 holes. All the new indexes will be printed on your playing cards as from Sunday April 17.
