Yamba women’s bowls AGM

Our week started with our AGM, with a great roll-up to see the new Committee in for 2019 – 20, and as is the custom of past years our loyal Life Member Shirley Drum conducted the meeting with her usual efficiency. Two very capable scrutineers Vick Miller and Ian Lauder took care of the counting of votes and made sure only eligible members were in attendance; many thanks to Shirley, Vick and Ian for their contribution to the smooth running of our AGM.

The major change was a new president – with now past president Kaye Mason handing over the reins to our new president – Bev Shatte. Kaye served her time as president with competence and a wonderful sense of humour – a very popular president; thank you Kaye for your service to the Club.

We have a new vice-president standing alongside current vice-president Raels McKibbin. Julie Coulter has thrown her hat in the ring and will continue in place of president Bev.

We also have a new secretary with Ronica Martin stepping down after keeping our Club up to speed and in good order – a very efficient secretary and we were most grateful to have her services for the last two years; happy retirement Ronnie. And now we have Joan Scadden in the secretary’s seat – and knowing Joan as a previous very efficient treasurer she will have the capabilities to keep the club’s matters running smoothly as well in her new and very demanding role.

The treasurer’s job remains in the hands of Judy Pryor as has been the case for the last year and we haven’t gone broke yet so she must be doing something right.

There is only one change in selection with Sonia Graham joining the current band of Gloria Davis (chairperson), Gwen Hoskin, Noeline Smith and Helen Atkinson.

And in match committee Wendy Ballantyne has returned as chairperson but has two new recruits in Kaye Mason and Margaret Abbott.

Social chairperson Cheryl Mazoudier welcomes Sue Lindsay, Lorraine Asbury, Wynne Bell and Lois Duncan to her band of hard workers.

Congratulations to all of the new committee for 2019 – 20 and may you keep the ship on a steady course for another twelve months.
