Yamba women’s ‘Bowler of the Month’

Tuesday May 14

Taking advantage of the gorgeous weather we are presently enjoying, 24 bowlers enjoyed three games of pairs and two of triples.

It was lovely to welcome back the Gill sisters after they returned for their winter visit, and they were both in the money – not bad for their first day – with Sandra Gill and M. Abbott taking home the runners-up prize after defeating L. Asbury, M. Conlan by only 1 shot. Sister Jennifer was also in the money after being in the Consolation rink after G. L Davis, P. Conley, H. Atkinson d J. Gill (v), S. Lindsay, J. Button.

The winner’s prize went to a pairs game with M. Durante, R. Dickson taking home the bowlo bucks after defeating L. Duncan, C. Ritale. In another very close pairs game J. Hudson, J. Pryor d M. Sakac, J. Campbell. Lastly N. Smith (swinger), J. Stamp, G. Davis d N. Smith, B. Shatte, V. Terry.

Also, it was great to see the ‘Bowler of the Month’ award for April go to our chairperson of selectors Gloria Davis; a well deserved award for Gloria as she is fully dedicated to her job – suffering all the early starts and the little pressures that come with the job with her easygoing and friendly style. Well done Gloria.

On the board at present are the nomination sheets for our Club Championships – Fours, Pairs, Major/Minors. Get yourself a team and enter for some serious days of bowling.

And well done to Wendy Ballantyne for making the semi-finals of the District Singles. Even though she didn’t make the actual final it’s still a big cheer from all of us for a good effort.

Thursday May 16

The day was washed out after barely starting. So it was coffee and chatter for an hour or so and we all moved on to other rainy day options.

Good luck and good bowling to our No2’s in the Pennant playoffs at Ballina.
