Yamba Squash players see the light
It’s been a fun start to the first squash competition for 2016 at Yamba Squash Centre. There is still room for more players so don’t be shy to come forward. Feel free to drop in and watch or participate. Singles is played on Monday and Wednesday nights, doubles on Thursday night and a round robin on Friday nights. All nights start at 6pm.
At the completion of this comp we will be holding the 2015 Club Championship. All players from 2015 are encouraged and are eligible to play, names need to be written on the appropriate sheets on the notice board.
The squash equipment on sale ranges from racquets to socks, shoes to T shirts, wrist and head bands, grips and more. Also on sale will be a range of table tennis bats, tennis racquets and badminton racquets. The price of both squash and tennis racquets will range right through from the lower end to the top end. Restringing will be available to both squash and tennis racquets.
In the off season the courts were painted and they came up like brand new so it took players a little while to get used to the blindingly bright courts and were wary about marking them.
Down the track we will be holding a doubles tournament. We’ve had enquiries from the local players and now from players up on the Gold Coast who are keen to get down here and compete.
Doubles is a timed game so everything runs on time so players can organise their weekend around their matches. Of course all local players will be encouraged to get their teams organised and start practicing and to work on the all important team outfit and name, not compulsory but adds to the fun of the weekend.
