  Yamba SLSC is pleased to welcome 13 new volunteer patrol members to the beach. Congratulations to cadet members Gracie Pitkin, Mia McAvoy, Alanna Colwell, Zoe King, Lachlan Clark, Jarrad Richards, Joshua Morris, Joshua Pugsley, Finn O’Neill, Sam Bloomer and Patrick O’Mahony who successfully gained their Surf Rescue Certificate on Sunday, whilst Reece Dobbin and Dylan Greeff obtained their Bronze Medallion. Current cadet patrol members Brianna McFarlane and Jack Brighton upgraded their qualifications to obtain their Bronze Medallion. Club Captain James Ryan needs volunteers for patrols on Christmas Day. Please contact James ASAP if you are able to assist with a patrol. There was a large field of competitors in Sundays Carl Schaeffer Handicap Surf Swim as 27 swimmers took the starting line. Justin Hyde, off 120 seconds, placed 1st, with Mikey Gilliman, off 100 seconds, 2nd and 10 year old Lily Young, off 60 seconds, 3rd. This popular surf swim is held every Sunday and public holiday, with registrations at 11am, and the race starting at 11.30am. Yamba Nippers enjoyed lots of fun and games, at their Christmas Party on Main Beach. A big thank you to Santa, for stopping in with a little gift for all the children! Nippers will resume on Sunday 17th January. Yamba SLSC will be hosting the annual Yamba Ocean Swims Day at Main Beach on Monday 28th December. Online entries are now open on the oceanswims.com website and participants are encouraged to use this to enter. There will be a 700 metre swim commencing at 9.30am and a 2km swim at 10.30am with fees at $20 and $30 respectively. Online entries close on Sunday 27th December. Late entries will be taken on race day and will incur a $10 late fee. Yamba SLSC meat raffles are on every Saturday evening at the Yamba Golf and Country Club from 5.30pm with the draw starting at 6.30pm. With 33 fantastic meat trays to be won, go along and try your luck! Yamba SLSC office hours have changed to Monday, Tuesday and Friday 9.30am to 12.30pm. Volunteer patrols at Main Beach this weekend are: Saturday 19th 9am-1pm- Patrol 9: Tony McFarlane, Teagan McFarlane, Sally Gilbert, Andrew Morris, Bella Gilbert, Brianna McFarlane, Darby Essex, Elaina Cormick, Lachlan McFarlane, Max Gilbert, Josh Morris, Joshua Pugsley. Saturday 19th 1pm-5pm- Patrol 1: James Ryan, Sean Leonard, Kerry Lee, Deborah Morfett, Jack Leonard, Jack Brighton, Shannon Colwell, Chloe Willemsen, Jack Earle, Jorden Elabbasi, Finn O’Neill. Sunday 20th 9am-1pm- Patrol 2: Mitch Imeson, Luke Patricks, Chris Moran, Katie Becker, Darby Fahey, Pierre De Billot, Molly Sanders, Tom Woods, Kirsten O’Connor. Sunday 20th 1pm-5pm- Patrol 3: Matthew Saunders, Marty Dougherty, Jill Ennever, Belinda Bock, Max Normand, Jasmin Ives, Rachel Fahey, Rhys Comerford, Will Pitkin, Sam Bloomer, Lachlan Clark, Patrick O’Mahony, Gracie Pitkin.
