A final proficiency for patrol members and water safety personnel is being this Sunday 29th November. Any members who have not yet completed their proficiency MUST attend. Please contact Club Captain James Ryan with any questions. Congratulations to the Yamba U23 boat crew that competed on Saturday in the 1st round of the Queensland Surfboat Navy Series. The crew of Zac Brotherson, Marc Adamson, Vincent Bolton, Andrew Bell and swept by Ray Wiblem competed in the Open division at Broadbeach in trying surf conditions. In the heats, the crew finished with three 1st placings, two 2nd placings and a 3rd. In the final, it was very close finish, with Yamba taking 4th place. The crew will compete in Coffs Harbour this weekend, in the Far North Coast Boat series, and then head back to QLD the following week for the launch of the Navy series. Nipper registrations have now closed. Unfortunately the branch carnival at Lennox Head was rescheduled to Sunday 17th January. This Sunday we have a group of Yamba Nippers attending the Byron Bay Teams Carnival. We wish them well and know they will do us proud! Low tide left plenty of sand for lots of beach activities on Sunday. Flags were a hit with the U6’s with them all giving it their best to grab a flag. Our older Nippers are continuing with their Surf Rescue Certificate and will soon be staring patrols. It’s great to see the development and achievements of the Nippers kids grow as the season progresses. U6’s parents are on set up and pack up duties. Could you please be at the beach by 9am to assist. Many hands make light work. Our Sassafras Pasta and Pizza Restaurant Nipper of the Week Award went to Zahli Laverty from the Under 7’s for exceptional behaviour and effort. Zahli’s favourite thing about Nippers is going to the pool and participating in Relays with her team mates. First Aid courses are being run at Shelley Beach in Ballina on: 19/12; 20/2; 16/4. Closing dates are 2 weeks before course begins but you would be wise to enrol (through the Yamba office) ASAP.
