On Saturday the Yamba Lions Club presented Yamba SLSC with a $500 cheque, proceeds from the Charity Golf Day held last month. Yamba SLSC is grateful for the ongoing support from Yamba Lions Club. The 6th Annual Jacob Lollback Memorial Board Race Day at Main Beach on Saturday attracted close to 200 board paddlers, from Noosa Heads to Wollongong, who tackled tough conditions in the strong southerly winds. Defending champion Jordie Mercer from Noosa once again took out the Open Women’s 4km race. Luke Cuff, a former Burleigh Heads club mate of Jacob’s, now with Mermaid Beach, won the Open Men’s 4km race. Yamba SLSC members Todd Ives won the 30-39 Men’s 2km paddle and Will Brighton was a clear winner in the Snake Race. Thank you to the large group of club members in running the event which resulted in the day being a big success for the club and the Lollback family. Club Registrar Cathy Dougherty urges all senior and nipper club members to renew club memberships for the 2015/16 season as soon as possible by completing forms and payments online through the website portal.sls.com.au.
