Yamba Red Cross

Our first meeting for this year was March 5 when all members were welcomed back to yet another year of fundraising for Australia Red Cross. Presentations of a 10 year Service Medal were made to member Marion Hourigan and a 30 year Service Bar to Shirley Drum and a 40 year Service Bar to Robyne Shea. Congratulation ladies. We kick started the year with an Easter raffle and thank all who purchased tickets whilst we were at the Yamba Shopping Complex. First prize of a hamper won by Val, winner of second prize of toiletries was Mavis and third prize of a sports umbrella won by Alf. The raffle was held in lieu of Red Cross Calling. Our popular annual Soup and Bingo Day will be held at the Palm Lakes Resort on Friday, June 3. Keep the day free and join us for a fun filled day. Enjoy delicious homemade soups and desserts and heaps of prizes. Mark June 3 in your diaries. We have gratefully received donations from the public for the Fijian Disaster Appeal. We are always thankful for your contributions. Our ladies and their friends continue to knit Trauma Teddies and Robyne is kept busy stitching up, filling and then distributing the Teddies to various doctor’s surgeries etc. These Teddies are such a comfort to a child who is suffering from anxiety or trauma. We are always chasing wool donations, and we thank the community for their generosity, however, we are always thankful to receive more. The next Blood Bank days are on Monday May 2 and Tuesday May 3. Please call 13 14 95 to register should you wish to donate blood. Our next meeting is on Saturday April 2 at Palm Lake Resort at 10am. Visitors are always welcome. Di Wood
