Maclean Hospital Auxiliary
At the recent meeting of the Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary five new members were warmly welcomed. They are Doreen Jamieson, Denise Collier, Wendy Ballantyne, Pauline Howard and Rosanna Manganas.
The correspondence included an invitation to a luncheon on Saturday April 30 at Maclean Bowling Club to celebrate Dot Scott’s 90th birthday. The time is noon, the cost is $17. There was a card from Challis McCosker thanking members for the get well wishes and support she received. Grafton H A invites members to a Mothers’ Day morning tea on Wednesday May 4 at 10am in the Grafton Community Centre. The cost is $6. RSVP by April 26 on phone number 6644 8329. There was also an invitation to the Yamba Seniors Day at Yamba Bowling Club on Sunday April 3. Tickets are $5 and need to be purchased from the bowling club office by March 31.
As the executive officer, Dan Madden, was unable to attend the meeting, the nurse manager, Anne Farrell, came and gave the good news that the new rehabilitation ward is open with five beds at present. She thanked the auxiliary for “all the wonderful support”.
Yvonne Hughes reported that, as from April 7, Thursday Bingo at the Maclean Services Club will run from 9.30am to 11.30am. Free tea and coffee are available, there are cash and mystery prizes to be won and everyone is welcome.
Plans were finalised for the parade of pre-loved fashions on Friday April 8 starting at 2pm in the Treelands Drive Community Centre in Yamba. A delicious afternoon tea will be served, there will be lucky door prizes and raffles and the entry fee is still only $5. All the clothing will available for sale at bargain basement prices. Models are asked to attend a rehearsal at Rita’s home at 1.30pm on April 5.
There will be a street stall in Maclean (near the pedestrian crossing) on Thursday April 14 and in Yamba on Thursday 21(near the chemist). Members are asked to provide items to sell including baked goods, plants and crafts.
Members are reminded that the Zone Conference takes place on Wednesday April 27 at Yamba Golf Club starting at 9am and all are encouraged to attend. The cost is $25 which should be paid to Rita before, or at, the next meeting on Monday April 18.
Congratulatory certificates for reaching eighty years of age were presented to Len Davis and Jan Hawkins.
The trolley coordinator, Margaret Annand, requests trolley helpers to give her their email addresses to save money when distributing rosters.
The next meeting will be on Monday April 18 at 2pm in the conference room of Community Health at Maclean District Hospital. New members welcome.
