Harold Peacock takes Thursday A Grade at Yamba A field of 150 players contested this last week’s Stableford competition and with the course looking the best it has for years, points were hard to come by with the greens quickening up and the rough being more defined. No trouble for Graham Kulmar though who hit driver 7 iron into the 15th for eagle giving him a plethora of balls to his collection. A Grade winner Harold Peacock returned 38pts, 2nd went to the perpetual bridesmaid David Miles with 35pts on a count back from evergreen Alex Podbereski 35pts. Adam Wiseman shot a round of 3 under par 40pts but forgot to pay his green fees so bad luck Adam maybe next time. In A Reserve Kash Robinson had 39pts giving him the win over Tommy Moore 39pts and 3rd went to Stewart Hass 38pts on a count back. B Grade winner was Barry Bartley with 39pts, 2nd went to Geoff Leviny 38pts on a count back from Peter O’Donnell 38pts. C Grade saw Rodger Gathercole return 36pts giving him the count back from Stephen Dorrell 36pts and 3rd went to Dave Barnsley 34pts. NTPs: On the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 3rd Doug Luckie at 273cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th Ken Hall was 440cm, on the SeaFire 10th Bruce Petith finished 174cm, Greg Wyllie won the Yamba Barber Shop 12th at 211cm, the SeaFire 17th was Kash Robinson 230cm. Balls for the day went to 33pts with 18 on the back 9. Saturday Stableford One hundred and twenty nine players fronted up for the Stableford comp with visitors from 9 different clubs and the scores were still down, they should get quicker and quicker for this Fridays Pro-Am. A Grade winner was Pennant Champion Wayne Rice with 39pts, 2nd went to Andrew Kelly with a lousy 35pts and 3rd was Bruce Lulham with the same. In A Reserve Dennis Beck from Southport won with 37pts, 2nd went to Russell Cain with 35pts on a count back from Awesome Isackson 35pts. B Grade saw Neil Drummond return 39pts giving him the count back from Barry Bartley 39pts and 3rd went to Noel Collie with 37pts. C Grade went to Brian Dwyer with 38pts, 2nd was Lary Dorman with 37pts on a count back from Dennis Walpole 37pts. NTPs: On the John Wright Pro Shop 3rd Donald O’Brien with 450cm, The Peter Campbell Physio 9th was Scott Stratford 418cm, on the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 10th Guy Carpenter finished only 49cm from the hole, on the SeaFire 12th Ashley Butcher was 154cm, the Bene Scene 17th was Alan Syle at 296cm and the 2nd shot 17th was Brian Dwyer at 88cm.
