Yamba Lions Club… Camp Quality donation

cvi   Melissa Bell from Coffs Harbour was presented with a cheque for $1,000 on behalf of Camp Quality by Lion Stella Jackson on May 20. Stella held a Christmas raffle which resulted in this money being raised and donated on behalf of Yamba Lions Club. Stella thanked the community for their support of the raffle. Melissa thanked the Lions Club and spoke briefly telling us a little about Camp Quality and what the proceeds will go towards. Camp Quality looks after children from 0 – 13 years of age who are suffering from different forms of cancer. These children get in and out of hospital support along with respite for the whole families where they attend recreation camps. There is also a puppet program. Puppeteers go into primary schools where there is a new child suffering from cancer and through this program, they educate teachers and pupils on how cancer affects a sufferer. This then in turn, prevents discrimination and bullying of the child when they return to school after treatment. What a wonderful support group this is for these families who are affected by cancer. Yamba Lions have supported Camp Quality in the past when they did a breakfast for the families who were staying in Yamba. Meetings are held 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at Yamba Bowling Club commencing 7 for 7.30pm. Visitors are welcome. For further information contact Secretary 6646 3060. Joy Lauder
