Yamba lady golfers enjoying the great weather

We’ve certainly been blessed with perfect weather over recent weeks; however, for some players who have been teeing off later in the morning, the heat has been proving to be an issue. Thankfully, the mozzies are definitely thinning out, possibly due to the large numbers of dragon flies.

Go the dragon flies!

The numbers of ladies who have been participating in our Wednesday and Friday competitions have been very healthy. Obviously, cabin fever is setting in and our ladies are taking every opportunity to do some exercise and socialise, albeit under changed conditions.

With 50 players involved last Wednesday, there were three grades and some excellent scores were recorded. Our Division 1 winner was Lee Daley (35 points) and Sue Scott followed closely on 34 points. In Division 2, Jane Bonner came in winner with 37 points and Jenny Muir was runner up (36 points c/b). Maiva Burnham took out the honours in Division 3 (38 points) and Ann Schuhmacher was runner up with 34 points.

Our Friday results and scores were just as impressive from the 45 ladies who participated. Kathy Parker took out the gong in Division 1 (35 points c/b) from Janelle Carpenter (35 points). In Division 2, Julie Campbell was the winner (35 points c/b) ahead of Jenny Dewar (35 points). Judy Palich was the Division 3 winner (36 points c/b) and we were all thrilled for Fred McDougall who was runner up in this division with 36 points.

Our very talented junior, Tana Lowe, was Saturday’s winner with a very impressive 39 points. Gillian Holst was runner up with 35 points c/b, scraping in ahead of Julie Campbell.

We continue to feel blessed that we are still permitted to play golf in the current circumstances. May it continue!

Finally, with so much extra time on your hands, it may be a perfect opportunity to hone your golf skills and iron out those pesky bad habits that have crept into your game. John Wright, our pro, is available for 30 minute individual lessons. To book a spot, please call the Pro Shop on 6646 1656.
