Yamba Ladies Golf

There was great excitement last Wednesday when, for the second year running, Kathy Parker took out the KO Championship title following her final match against Gail Gore-Brown.

Kathy won the match 4/3 in perfect playing conditions. Congratulations go to both ladies for skills and, as always, their sportsmanship.

Last Wednesday’s single Stableford round had a field of 52 ladies.

Div 1 was a closely decided affair between Helen Collins and Jeannie Doolan. Both ladies scored 34pts so a countback was needed to declare Helen the eventual winner.

In Div 2, Carrie Aitken (37pts) won ahead of Robyn Wiblen (36pts) and in Div 3, Fay Gimenez (37pts) was the winner with Judy Palich r/up (31pts). NTP’s: Yamba Medical Centre 3rd – Mary Hogan; Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3rd (2nd) – Fay Gimenez; Leonie May Millinery 9th (2nd) – Darrie Nightingale; Yamba Fair Butchery 10th – Janelle Carpenter; The Shoe Boutique 12th – Di Sigle; Clovelly Fashions, Maclean 17th – Margaret Solomon and The Wobbly Chook 17th (2nd) – Phyllis Telfer. Balls were awarded to 32 pts.

Last Friday’s single Stableford round had a field of 39 ladies. The winner was Janelle Carpenter (35pts). A number of ladies scored 34pts; however, Jenifer Moody was eventually awarded r/up ahead of Kathy Parker on countback.

Our Friday NTP are sponsored by: Flots and Jets, Valley Finance, Peter Campbell Physio, Kitchen to Table, Amie Rose Beauty, Nicholson’s Fine Foods and Yamba Pharmacy. Daphne Hinshaw, Phyllis Telfer, Jenny Dewar, Jacky Penfold, Kathy Parker, Jo Simmons and Julie Vernol were our winners. Balls were awarded to 31pts c/b.

There were only eight Saturday ladies including new member, Tiffany Lee, who played some great golf. Jenifer Moody came in with 33pts ahead of Mary Hogan (31pts) who also won the NTP. Kylie Lowe continues to improve and is to be congratulated for her birdie on the 14th hole. Well done ladies!

Last Friday, Carrie Aitken, Penny Cope, Di Sigle, Jeannie Doolan and Leigh Robertson travelled to Casino to represent Yamba ladies in the Five Person Interclub Team event. Jeannie Doolan (75) and Carrie Aitken (78) were our two best performers and, while the team did not win, a great day was had by all. Many thanks go to Casino for hosting the event.

This Wednesday will be WGNSW Medal (Rd 2), 3rd Monthly Medal and 2nd Rd Elimination. Friday will be the 1st 4/6 Par Event.

Happy golfing ladies!
