Coutts Crossing croquet

A full week of play, kicked off early on Monday by a GC pairs match between Ann and Tony Williams, Val Hope and Joy Campbell.

Tony recorded the first double hoop to hoop of 2021. Tuesday saw Rusty Case and Louise Lowe lead the Ricochet group. Simon Cook gave new insights into the latest coaching ideas to get big breaks.

On Wednesday Peter Deeth beat Peter Martin 16-14 while Sue Deeth overcame Gillian Martin 11-10. After that the Martins went north to Bribie Island in Queensland for the AC Mary Masters Annual Memorial AC event. Gillian played well to be runner up in the Div 4 event. Peter ended in the middle of a large field in the senior event, but he came away with an award for the best turn of the tournament, an eleven hoop peg out turn after the bell.

While Jan and Keith Brodie have set off for a months long tour of croquet clubs south and west, the final dates for the rearranged GC Pennants match have been set.

There may be more storms on the horizon, but our newly acquired super sopper should mean no more lost play days.
