A power outage in Yamba last Sunday was not related to previous outages that resulted in upgrade works at the Yamba substation.

Essential Energy provided the following statement: Just over 2,900 Essential Energy customers in parts of Yamba and surrounds, were affected by an unplanned outage on Sunday evening around 9.30pm.

For safety reasons, the power supply was isolated following reports of a plumbing problem, impacting Essential Energy electrical equipment on Mariners Way at Yamba.

Essential Energy crews responded immediately, securing safety of the site and worked with local authorities to resolve the issue.

Power was restored to all customers within 1.5 hours.
