Why not use a free personal trainer to improve your mental health?

We all know how effective a personal trainer can be to help us really get fit. But did you know that you can have your own personal mental health coach, free of charge, through the NewAccess program across the north coast? NewAccess coaches are located up and down the north coast and act like personal trainers for your mental wellbeing, providing support and getting people on the right track for 2016. NewAccess – a beyond blue initiative – is run through the North Coast Primary Heath Network and funded by beyondblue and the Movember Foundation. The New Year is the perfect time to take stock of your wellbeing and NewAccess coaches can help with healthy eating, getting back into a routine and establishing good habits that enhance mental health. NewAccess program manager Jennifer Melsness said people often feel stressed and low after a holiday break and that making changes to life can feel difficult at such a time. “But there are effective, evidence-based tools that our coaches can help with,” she said. “NewAccess trained coaches support people to develop tools in managing life’s challenges, including stress and low mood. “People over 18 can just ring up and make an appointment and the program can be completed over the phone or face to face (whatever is more convenient).” For more information about NewAccess or to refer to the program, call 1300 137 934 or visit beyondblue.org.au/NewAccessCoach
