Walters stomps a win

Angourie surfer Dakoda Walters won the U16 division of the 2017 Billabong Parko Grom Stomp at the Sunshine Coast, Queensland on Sunday September 3. Walters won a final that was regarded by organisers as “a super heat boasting four of the best junior surfers in Australia” Walters defeated, in order, Toi Tanaka (Palm Beach, QLD), Ethan Stokes (Coffs Harbour, NSW) and Thomas Carvalho (Coolangatta, QLD). “All went blow for blow in what was a very close final, with only a handful of points separating the four,” a spokesperson said. “Walters took charge early with the first wave of the heat and managed to hold off the field, impressing the judges with his trademark backside power hacks and flawless style to claim victory.” Walters also took out the ‘Most Progressive Move’ award.
