The Grafton Branch of the United Hospital Auxiliary held their August monthly meeting on Monday 24th. There were 32 members present with 5 apologies. President Alba opened the meeting and the Motto recited. Grafton Base Hospital Executive Officer, Mr Dan Madden addressed the meeting. We were advised that in the year to date birth numbers were down, also one of the existing anaesthetist`s will be leaving the hospital later in the year. He is hopeful to be inviting least two (2) new orthopaedic doctors to join the base hospital work force before too long. There is news in the pipe-line of another doctor coming to Grafton and he maybe of assistance to the Renal unit. The gift shop operating inside the hospital has raised almost $15,000 since it`s inception. Kevin Sanderson of Jason Initiative has been a loyal supporter of the U.H.A. from the sale of his bottled water, to date Kevin has donated $8,198 for which we thank him. The following Grafton Branch members have been awarded Internal (Branch) Life Membership to the UHA: Marie Connelly, Gloria Campbell, Joan Eggins, Judy Irving, Gwen Mulherin and Ethel Hancock. Congratulations ladies. Crazy Whist is a social gathering of card players, held on the 3rd Monday of each month and held in the Education Centre at the rear of the hospital. It commences at 1pm and afternoon tea is provided. If you would like to enjoy a social, fun afternoon you are welcome to come along. The next date for crazy whist will be Monday 21 September. All welcome. The next monthly meeting will be held on Monday September 28 commencing at 1pm and held in the Education Centre at the rear of the hospital.
