Tina Hogg takes the Jean Davis Memorial Trophy

Last Wednesday Maclean Ladies played for a very special trophy the Jean Davis Memorial Trophy for the best nett of the day. Jean was a much loved member of our club and the day was very generously sponsored by her family and our thanks go to the Bell family for their support. It was also the first round of the 2016 Club Championships and the 6th Monthly Medal. Tina Hogg was the winner of Div 1 and also won the Jean Davis Memorial Trophy and the Div 1 Monthly Medal. Tina was very excited to win this trophy as she had many fond memories of playing with Jean over the years. Winner of Div 2 and the Monthly Medal was Lexie Simmons. The Gross Winners were Div 1 Sheree Forsythe and Div 2 Marlene Roberts. Runner-up for Div 1 was Helen McFarlane and Div 2 Marlene Roberts. Putting on the day was won by Helen McFarlane with a nice 29 putts. NTP’s: Div 1 Cathy Ayres; Div 2 Henny Taranto; Overall 7th Kim Wiblen, 11th Pauline Ryan. Club Balls went to Judy Parkes, Kim Moore, S. Fong Kee, Bev Ensbey, Sandy Youlten and Edith Piddington. Last Monday both Pennant teams played at Maclean and even though our teams won their matches on the day, we both finished 2pts, just one match behind the winners of the Southern Division. Sheree and Di the team captains thanked all the players who travelled and gave their best for our Club and we hope to go one better next year. The first round of the club championships were played on Wednesday and it proved a tough assignment for most. There are only one of two shots between the leaders in each of the three divisions so it will be exciting to see what unfolds over the next two rounds. It was great to see Jill Schipp and Molly Plunkett back playing with us after sometime our with injuries. The Club has a charity day coming up for the Maclean Hospital. It is a nine hole four person Ambrose with lunch and a great auction so if you would like to play please give our Pro-Shop a call. Cathy Ayres
