Three arrested over Shell Yamba break-in

Three teenagers have been arrested and charged over the break-in at the Shell Yamba service station, after they allegedly stole a car and graffitied a bowling club and two cars including a police vehicle.

At Brunswick Heads on February 10, police allege a LDV utility was stolen and then involved in several pursuits and other alleged offences.

Then about 2.35am on Monday, February 26, the Shell Yamba service station on Yamba Road was broken into, with cash, food, drinks, and cigarettes stolen.

The CV Independent was told six people who had their faces disguised where involved in the incident where they smashed their way through the front glass door of the premises, as CCTV footage captured their every move.

At 4.40 am the following day, it is alleged three of the people involved in the Yamba break-in damaged and graffitied the Broadwater Bowling Club, before making their way to Coraki, where they allegedly targeted two four-wheel drives with pink graffiti, including the local police vehicle.

About 1pm on February 27, search warrants were executed at two addresses on Spring Street Coraki by officers from the Richmond Proactive Crime Team and Richmond Criminal Investigations, who were assisted by Rural Crime Investigators.

During the searches police allegedly located and seized a number of items linked to the incidents, including the LDV utility, which was recovered after being located in nearby bushland and seized for forensic examination.

Coffs Clarence Police District Commander, Superintendent Joanne Schultz said police arrested three teenage boys aged 15 and 16 who were taken to Lismore police station.

“Three people have been charged over their alleged roles in the service station break-in, with inquiries into that incident ongoing,” she said.

The 16-year-old was charged with two counts of destroy or damage property, two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, aggravated break and enter in company steal, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

One of the 15-year-old boys was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, aggravated break and enter in company steal, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

The third 15-year-old was charged with recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, with all three refused bail to appear at Lismore Children’s Court.
