The end of the bowling year storm is brewing at Yamba Women’s Bowling Club, creating a frenzy of activity over the next three weeks, but in the calm before the storm it was a quieter week of social bowls last week. Margaret Durante, Pam Conley and Val Terry were down 6-13 to Isobel Neill, Glynis Hall and Bev Shatte in their game on Tuesday 17th before they found their form and recorded a 19-15 win, capturing the Lucky Rink Winners prize. Runner up winner was the Cheryl Deveney/Monica Conlan combo who defeated the Consolation winners Jan Stamp and Ruthie Fletcher. Other results were R McKibbin/J Scadden defeated E Moodie/B Briers; B Mills/J Pearson/R McPherson had a win over F Reeves/L Olsson/ H Atkinson and M Sakac/R Dickson/J Button got up over G Hoskin/M Salmon/G Davis. Thursday 19th saw another good roll up, and the lucky rink winners were Maria Sakac and Judy Button who had a dominant win over Sandy Owen and Ruthie Fletcher. Chris Cole skipped the r/up winners, and with Gwen Hoskin and Pam Conley had a close win over Colleen Beard, Judy Sinclair and Marie Stone. In another close game, Flo Stevens, Helen Scott and Catherine Aitchison defeated Consolation Winners Marg Wall, Carol Casement and Robyn McPherson. The remaining games resulted in wins to B Lawson/M Salmon/D Burey over R McKibbin/B Shatte/R Moore and J Pearson/H Atkinson/J Scadden over C Deveny/W Bell/V Terry. Over the next three weeks, ‘it’s all happening’. First up this week is the Ham and Turkey Day and the Em Utting challenge at Maclean. The following week on Thursday December 3rd is the Christmas Party and Concert Day, preceded by the Christmas Breakfast, for which the sheet is on the board. As well, the Yamba Mixed Pairs tournament is on 6th December. Then, the Combined Dinner and Presentation Night on December 10. The sheet for this is on the men’s board. Prior to this date and the final of the Mixed Fours will also be played. In addition, the new Queen of the Green Competition sheets and rules for both Major and Minor players has been posted on the board, as have the proposed 2016 Pennant teams. If anyone named is now unavailable they should notify Sonia Graham or Helen Scott immediately. Wendy Ballantyne
