Tartan Brushy Club

Tartan Brushy has enjoyed another round of happy meetings. We have just celebrated our 14th birthday. Members and guests enjoyed a lovely day, entertainment provided by ‘Old & Buggered’. A birthday scroll was given to each member, containing two poems written by two of our volunteers and a mug of sweets. Special thanks to Jenny & Neville and to each volunteer and member who keep the club going. Meetings have included St. Patrick’s Day celebrating the green, Alison and her line dances. A warm welcome was given to students from Cowper Public School. A visit from musicians Sue & Pete McMahon playing a small concertina and a saw aroused a lot of interest and songs and stories were told. Paul Jones refreshed the main points of CPR for us and this was accompanied by a film. Easter was celebrated with a hat parade and an Easter novelty was given to each member. Thank you to the kitchen ladies for all of the goodies that came from the kitchen. Country Ramblers performed for us and our monthly trading table was held. Guests from St.Francis were welcomed on that day. A bus trip to Ulmarra which included a visit to the shops followed by lunch at the Ulmarra Hotel made a most enjoyable day. John Stubbs from the Maclean R.S.L Sub Branch conducted our ANZAC service. We had a talk on the slouch hat an ANZAC poem and Vera Montague read an account of her time as a nurse during the war. Members then laid flowers around our model Cenotaph. Entertainment was by the Lawrence Tempomentals. Sadly this was their last visit to us as their numbers are falling so they are winding up their group. We have fond memories of their many visits and they will be missed.
