Sue Bloomer rolls in a perfect 10x score at 400 yards

After edging one shot out in her first stage, Sue Bloomer coolly banged in the perfect 60/60 with all ten shots right in the middle of the X-Ring, to produce an amazing 30mm group at the 400 yard shoot on Saturday, and lead home the F-Class Off-Rifle field in the first stage of the NSWRA Medal competition for 2016. There were some high class scores carded on the day, especially in F-Class where, as well as Sue’s 60-10, there were six 59/60 stage scores carded as well, with one each going to Sue Bloomer, Nick DeBellis, David Grundy, John Robertson, and two going to Dennis Hilton. In Target Rifle, both Peter Brown and Peter Nielsen produced possible [50/50] stages, with Nielsen topping the centre count for the day despite an uncertain start in his first stage. The Grafton ShoppingWorld Butchery Off-Rifle trophies went to Sue Bloomer in F-Class, with Dennis Hilton and David Grundy close behind, and to Peter Brown in the Target Rifle division, with Mathew Bloomer and Ian Griffiths filling the minor places. However, the Daily Aggregate trophies were a different matter. In T/R we saw Chris McKenzie in only his second outing in this division, edge out Peter Brown by half a point, while in F-Class, John Robertson (our senior octogenarian) showed that there was still plenty of life in the “old dog” yet, when he took the prize by two points from another long-time campaigner, John Stone, who was having only his second outing in this division. Next week the shoot will be from the 500 yard mound for the second stage of the NSWRA Medal, monthly competition, commencing at 1.00 pm. The range is located at 434 Trenayr Road, opposite the Koppers log mill and adjacent to the Experiment Farm. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Anthony O’Keeffe
