The Klein’s compete at National Championships
The 41st Masters Swimming Australia National Championships hosted by Masters Swimming Victoria have been successfully delivered.
It was a great long weekend from April 21-24 at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) and Helmut and Jan Klein represented the Clarence River Masters Swim Club.
A total of 728 competitors participated from 102 clubs, including the US, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Mexico and New Zealand.
Competition was tough, but our locals gave it their all with Helmut bringing home a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke, and no less than four bronze medals in the 200m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke, 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke.
Unfortunately for Jan the competition was too tough for her to achieve a placing in any of the four events in which she competed. Disappointing for Jan but we are still very proud of her achievements.
The Klein’s are great ambassadors for the Clarence Valley, we welcome them home but won’t let them get too comfortable as we have our own Clarence Masters Swim Club Carnival coming up at the Yamba pool on June 11-12.
