Horses are riders are rearing to go as local sports club Valley and Rivers Showjumping prepares to welcome competitors to the annual Spring Show at the Grafton Showground on September 16 and 17.

Valley and Rivers Showjumping Secretary Louise Light is anticipating another large turnout and is encouraging riders of all ages to nominate ahead of the event.

First held in 2022, the Spring Show welcomed close to 60 riders and their mounts last year and featured over 350 rounds of showjumping.

This year, two rings will be set up for competitors to accommodate different classes, and prizes will also be awarded for Best Presented Rider, and Best Junior and Senior Rider of the Show.

“Last year’s Spring Show was very well supported,” Ms Light said.

“We had riders travel from Tweed Heads and Port Macquarie and further south to compete.

“I’m sure the numbers are going to be pretty high again this year.”

In preparation for the upcoming Spring Show, Valley and Rivers Showjumping are holding a Jumping Weekend on August 19 and 20 at the Grafton Showground, allowing riders and their mounts the perfect opportunity to hone their skills and techniques.

Saturday will feature a training day, while competition rounds between 50cm and 125cm will be held on Sunday.

The event will run from 8am until 4pm across both days.

Riders who wish to nominate can do so by visiting www.globalentriesonline.com.au

Entries close at 11pm on August 16.

Anyone wishing to nominate for the Valley and Rivers Showjumping Spring Show can also register at the aforementioned website from 7pm on August 18.

Entries close at 11pm on September 13.

Ms Light also wished to acknowledge event sponsors and the Grafton Showground for hosting the upcoming events.
