Speed changes on Ashby-Tullymorgan Road and Murrayville Road

Roads and Maritime Services advises motorists a reduced speed limit will be in place on Ashby-Tullymorgan and Murrayville roads, Ashby from Friday 3 June. “The speed limit will be changed following a review of the existing 100km/h speed limit,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said. “The review was carried out in accordance with the NSW Speed Zoning Guidelines and in consultation with local council. “The review assessed a number of factors including roadside development, traffic characteristics and crash profiles. “There have been four reported crashes on this stretch of Ashby-Tullymorgan Road from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2014. Of these crashes two were injury crashes and two were non-casualty crashes. “There have been three reported crashes on this stretch of Murrayville Road from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2014. Of these crashes two were injury crashes and one was a non-casualty crash. “As a result of the review, the speed limit on Ashby-Tullymorgan Road will be reduced to 80km/h for 4 kilometres from 280 metres northwest of Lismore Street to 890 metres west of Patemans Road. “The speed limit on Murrayville Road will also be reduced to 80 km/h from Ashby-Tullymorgan Road to North Arm Drive, a total distance of 4.7km. “These changes aim to improve safety for all road users and provide a consistent speed limit on these adjoining roads. “Signs will be in place to warn motorists of the speed limit changes when the new signs are installed by council. “The signs are enforceable once installed and the warning signs will remain in place for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been put in place.” For more information on road safety visit the Roads and Maritime Services website at www.rms.nsw.gov.au.
