Friday 29th July Men’s Mixed barefoot bowls: A beautiful afternoon to be out on the Green with pleasantly warm temperatures and hardly a breath of wind. Great bowling weather. Just three Rinks this afternoon all triples one with a swinging lead. The results of all matches were as follows: Rink (2). M Bettison & A Bunn d R Pendergast & D Mclachlan 21-20 in a great game where the lead swapped backwards and forwards, with in the end, very little between the 4 players. Really enjoyable; Rink (3). S Scott (Swinging Lead), A Haine & J Betts d S Scott (SL), J Mitchell & B Hayes 28-5 in what turned out to be a very uneven match. Some lovely bowls played by swinging lead Sam Scott; Rink (4). C Rogers, J Axon & L Andrew d Jean Mitchell, J Flaherty & S Ford 25-14. One of Sel’s few ventures as a Skip and he made a pretty good fist of it too. Winning Rink (3). S Scott. A Haine. J Betts Just the one chook end and it was won by John Betts who also took the resting toucher. The jackpot was won by Rink (3) as well, so John had a really good day. Well done. Saturday 30th July Another perfect bowling day saw the playing of the Men’s Major / Minors Tournament, with all three placings going to home teams. Well done South Grafton. The winning teams were: 1st – Bernie Kowal & John Betts; 2nd – Kaine Van Beek & Mark Revell; 3rd – Sep Weber & Ken Evans.
