Simple stickers bound to help parents

Clarence Valley library staff have been busy putting special stickers on books aimed at helping parents with advice on raising children. Regional librarian, Kathryn Breward, said parenting could be a mixed blessing with its range of new challenges and wonderful rewards, and at some stage all parents could use a bit of advice on how to understand their child in order to help them succeed in life. “Clarence libraries have a large range of books on all aspects of parenting and these can help with children of any age,” she said. Ms Breward said topics covered included: childbirth and early development, illnesses and nutrition, raising children with disabilities, dealing with emotional and psychological challenges, learning obstacles or and dealing with family issues like divorce and adoption. “Libraries are here to help the community members on their journey through life, and parenting is a big part of this journey,” she said. “To make it easier for parents this information, the library has placed stickers on the spine of all relevant books that identify them as part of our parenting collection. “Staff members are more than happy to show library users how to search the online catalogue for books on the various aspects of parenting.” Call into one of the Clarence Valley Libraries and see how we can help you with the right information for raising a healthy, happy family.
