Sandon hit by raging storm

Campers at Sandon River woke up to a raging storm on Sunday morning, which lasted for around an hour. One of the campers Ailsa Schilling of Gulmarrad said that the lightning and thunder were directly over the camp. “A deluge of rain was dumped on the camping ground along with large, sharp hail stones,” she said. “Some campers had a massive cleanup after their tents went underwater.” According to Mrs Schilling some of the campers saw the lighter side of the event, after the storm had passed and didn’t miss the opportunity to paddle around the newly formed lake in the middle of the campsite, in their canoes and kayaks.
