On Friday, June 23 Saint Joseph’s competed against Cowper Primary at a fantastic tennis gala day. This gala was held at the Maclean tennis courts and was organised by Alan Jurd. Students from both schools were brimming with excitement. Sportsmanship ruled the day and new friends were made. Students rotated through a series of tennis games and all displayed their improved tennis skills which they had worked to develop during this Term 2 sport. Corey, Nash, Bob and Abby from CPS and Sarah and Jackson from St Joey’s all received best and fairest awards. St Joey’s won the big ball championship and retain their unbeaten title. Mr Jurd organised a delicious BBQ for competitors to keep their energy up for the on- going games of tennis. Students were all truly grateful for Mr Jurd’s effort and many were heard to say tennis was now their favourite sport. A tennis camp will be run in Maclean during the holidays and entry forms are available through the schools.
