Romiaka Bridge replacement due to start

A contract has been awarded for the replacement of Romiaka Bridge on Yamba Road. The contract has been awarded to Delaney Civil Pty Ltd and investigation works should start on March 27, with the new bridge expected to be open to traffic by December this year. The Romiaka Bridge replacement has a total project budget of $3.9 million and is funded jointly by the Australian Government’s Bridges Renewal Programme Round 2 and the NSW Government’s Fixing Country Roads. Clarence Valley Council bridges engineer, Adele McGeary, said site preparation would start soon and there may be some disruption to the travelling public. “We will make every effort to reduce the impact on motorists, but we need people to be aware that work is happening and to take care around the site,” she said. “The new bridge will be located beside the existing bridge to allow the existing bridge to stay open to traffic throughout the construction works,” she said. “We apologise for the disruption and request that members of the public follow the directions of signposting at the site.”
