Recognising our local sporting champions

Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan last Thursday presented 12 Clarence Valley teenagers with a Local Sporting Champion Award and a $500 cheque to help them on their way. “I’m very pleased to help these teenagers follow their dreams,” he said. “Those who are receiving awards have excelled themselves representing the Clarence Valley on the international, national and state stage. “The Clarence Valley has produced some outstanding sportspeople in the past, and it is important that we support the next crop of our local sporting talent. “I encourage any budding champions out there who have the opportunity of competing at a state, national or international event to apply for a grant by contacting my office or checking out the website” In no order, our latest crop of Clarence Valley Sporting Champions are: • Reilly Wunderlich, 14, NSW Combined High Schools Golf Championships • Jamie Plunkett, 12, Junior Swimming National Special Olympics • Matilda Sumner, 15, NSW Age Netball Championships • Emily Sevior, 14, NSW Age Netball Championships • Zoe King, 15, NSW Age Netball Championships • Sofia Popko, 15, NSW Age Netball Championships • Zoe Brown, 15, NSW Age Netball Championships • Alanna Colwell, 14, NSW Age Netball Championships • Annika Swift, 13, NSW Age Netball Championships • William Pattison, 12, NSW PSSA Boys Hockey Championships • Tahlia Marsh, 14, World BMX Championships • Caleb Barker, 16, NSW U16 Rugby Union Championships For more information about the program, go to
