Ramblers weekend of fun!
What does golf, kite flying, ukulele/accordion/clarinet jam sessions, raffle dice game, movie night, raffles, relaxing Thai Chi, and a few very happy, Happy Hours, have in common?
The answer is easy! These were some of the activities enjoyed by members of the Clarence Valley Ramblers Motorhome Chapter during its October outing to the Lawrence Golf Club. And, what a wonderful venue it is with expansive views over the picturesque golf course, nature in all its glory in the wetland area and the sounds of the colourful lorikeets as they enjoyed the beautiful blooms of the vibrant red bottlebrush trees around the camping area.
Such is the popularity of the venue that there were 30 vehicles in attendance, which required the Lawrence Tavern courtesy bus making four trips to ferry us all down to the Tavern for dinner on the Friday night. We all enjoyed delicious meals and supported the locals by purchasing raffle tickets. None of our members were lucky enough to win any prizes in that raffle but Mavis Green was the surprised winner of 10 free middies of a ‘Pick-a-box’ promotion which she promptly donated to the locals in the bar. Good on you, Mavis!
Andrew Kan had a bit of trouble putting together a large kite and soon had a number of onlookers offering help and after a lot of suggestions on what went where, he soon had it assembled and soon had ‘lift off’ to the sounds of cheering and clapping from those who gathered!
A number of our members bought along their golf clubs and enjoyed a game or two during the weekend while others joined in a fun game of Raffle Dice. Lyn Sykes was the eventual winner taking the ‘pot’ of $20!
The Clarence Valley Ramblers member numbers rose once again with Marilyn & Terry Cutting (Grafton) & Barry Robotham (Sth Lismore) joining the Chapter on the weekend. A warm welcome to you all!
The annual CVR Jacaranda Rally ( 3-8 November) at the Grafton Greyhound Track is fully booked out and is certain to be another successful event.
The Chapter’s Christmas Party will be held at Nana Glen on the weekend of 11-13 December. Please ring Carol on 6645-1717 to book and to advise her if you will be bringing along a salad or desert for the shared Christmas dinner. Don’t forget to bring along a secret Santa gift to the value of $5 per person attending. It’s going to be a great weekend of fun!
