It was perfect weather on Sunday, for the running of Maclean Public School’s annual ‘Fathers Day spring fair’. A myriad of activities were available for those attending, including: a jumping castle, sumo suits, laser tag, pony rides, assorted farm animals and a water slide. The Maclean Fire and Rescue unit were there with their fire truck, handing out promotional gift bags. A huge crowd wandered around the grounds of the school, while family members gathered to watch the children taking part in the activities. The highlight of the day was the fundraising challenge for Maclean Public School principal Sandra Armstrong to take part in the waterslide, if a sum of $200 was raised. At 11.30am an announcement was made that the money had been raised and Mrs Armstrong was warming up for the challenge. Students made a dash across to the waterslide area, to watch their principal take part. Mrs Armstrong delighted the students with a re-run of the event and a second go at being covered in soap suds, along with the mud which awaited her at the end of the slide. Money raised from Sunday’s event will go towards an air conditioning unit for the schools music room.
