The Port of Yamba Yacht Club invites you to join them to hear from solo sailor Lisa Blair about her record breaking, epic journey circumnavigating Antarctica.
Lisa will share her story of determination and survival. Sailing her yacht,
Climate Action Now, she was circumnavigating Antarctica solo, non-stop and unassisted, with the goal of becoming the first woman and the fastest person to do so; however, on April 4 her mast came crashing down in the night amid 40 knots of wind and 7 to 9 metre swells.
Lisa saved her yacht and made her way under jury rig to Cape Town for repairs. She then restarted her voyage and successfully sailed into the history books as the first woman to sail solo around the Antarctica.
She will be racing in the next Sydney to Hobart Yacht race before going solo around Australia in the New Year.
Lisa Blair presents her talk at the Port of Yamba Yacht Club at the Yamba Marina (upstairs from the cafe) on Tuesday October 17 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
